The Breast Health Outreach and Education program provides breast health outreach and linkage to clinic services for low-income women 40-years of age and older. Outreach is provided through a variety of means including door-to-door and community presentations. The program provides education on Breast Cancer to women on an individual or group basis. Women are provided with information about breast cancer as well as preventive measures and treatment options. They are also provided with education on the proper way to administer breast self-exams. Through our advocacy program, women are provided one-on-one assistance. The program provides FREE clinical breast exams (CBE) and mammograms to qualified women. Women qualified to participate are women who are 40+, there are other programs in the community that are designed for women under 40. We can also assist women to access these programs. In addition, the program also offers a support group for breast cancer survivors and those in treatment. The support group meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m -6:30 p.m. Members of the group share experiences and resource information. Major funding is provided by the Avon Breast Care Fund and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. |
