La Habra Host Lions Club Golf Tournament
Enjoy a day of excellent golfing at one of the finest golf courses in the Los Angeles area while you support our work to help community residents stay healthy and thrive.
VCC: The Gary Center is a health care safety net serving the neediest residents of La Habra and surrounding communities. We are grateful for your support in the past and we are counting on your participation this year. Your generosity will allow us to serve individuals and families with affordable, high quality medical and dental care, counseling, health education, drug and alcohol use treatment, and food distribution.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit VCC: The Gary Center’s “Weekend Warrior Program,” a program designed to address food insecurity among our youth. This nutritional program for children was launched in March of 2017 and works to ensure that children from low-income families have access to healthy, nutritious food to grow and thrive. Every Friday, VCC: The Gary Center provides food supplies that fill a backpack to any child who stops by the clinic site on 201 S. Harbor Boulevard in La Habra.
Originally intended to only serve children aged 5-18, VCC: The Gary Center has expanded outreach efforts to all those aged 3-19 based on need. We are happy to report that more than 850 children have been assisted by this program since its inception. During Snack Pack distribution, families are able to learn about the clinic’s health services, receive health education, and be assisted with scheduling future appointments. The children enrolled in the program are encouraged to come weekly to pick up refills of these nutritious snacks.
