Licensed Clinical Social Worker Nirmala Jagannath is a psychotherapist and social worker. In her previous years’ experience she has worked in inpatient/outpatient hospital programs in the local North County area, assisting patients through their mental and emotional challenges. Nirmala’s areas of expertise include: trauma, depression/anxiety, women’s issues, minority stress, inequality and social mobility across cultures, interpersonal issues, and gay affirmation therapy.
Ms. Jagannath comes to VCC for the opportunity to work more closely with the community to deliver key services imperative to our population. As a nonprofit community clinic, she feels that VCC’s mission is in line with her own personal interests and philosophy on providing clinical excellence and appropriate healthcare services directly to our community.
She believes strongly in helping to improve her patient’s knowledge of mental illness, treatments, and supports available to them. She coordinates care and provides personal feedback that will assist in good decision making about their own health.
Ms. Jagannath is also very personally involved in the community as a business owner of Design Boutique, a shop that invests and support in hand produced textiles with concern for social issues. She is also a live performer, trained in Indian classical dance. She also dedicates her personal time to VCC by sitting on their Board of Trustees.
She is also multilingual in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
